August 2005Technology Erases Geographic Boundaries
by Janet Jordan Technology, without a doubt makes, the difference in supporting my client In Puerto Rico. I received a long distance phone call one morning back in October, 2003. My real estate support site YourREVA.com had just been mentioned in an article in the Florida Realtor Magazine. The Realtor® on the phone was starting with me, planning to interview the entire list of VAs listed in the article. The minutes that we spent together, changed both of our lives dramatically. I immediately suggested that I call her back at my expense since my flat rate long distance covers U.S. possessions. She was pleased with that. She was somewhat hesitant to work with a VA because of the distance. I explained that working with me would be seamless and transparent for her. I demonstrated my client VOIP meeting room through voxwire where we could meet at no long distance expense. I also explained that I would create a client center for her to use as a starter page on her computer. In the client center she would have (and now has) all of my contact info, contract and W9 at her fingertips, including links to the meeting room and my email. Later, all of her invoices and reports would be located there also. She was very impressed. We discussed her needs and agreed that my 10 hour retainer package would work perfectly. Within an hour she had decided that she really didn’t need to contact the rest of the people, her client center had been created and she had emailed me my first month’s retainer. Her search engine optimization and AdWord promotion program has been handled by me here in Corpus Christi without a hitch now for almost two years. When interviewed on the Mary Goulet Show, she indicated that her business had skyrocketed as a result of working with me. Technology definitely erased the geographical boundaries.
